Good Moves Ed Source
Our classes are flexible by design, both in content and difficulty. We’d rather work toward giving you what you want rather than putting you in a one-size-fits-all dance box. So, if you don’t see exactly which class is right for you, just call or email and we’ll help you figure out how to start dancing!
We’re also open to suggestions about classes you’d like to see, so feel free to tell us how you’d like to enjoy dance!
Note that we often adjust the start time of a scheduled class to accommodate the schedules of the current class. We advise you call or email to get these details before coming to a class. Also, the cost of most classes is by the hour, usually $12 per class hour. The cost for Consort members is generally $150 per month.

Students at this level are gaining confidence in their abilities and generally take three or more classes per week. Currently Friday 5:30-6:30.
Pointe/Variations: This class is for students ages 9 and older who take at least two other dance classes per week. We focus on exercises to safely strengthen and prepare the female dancer for pointe work. Along with challenging and classic ballet instruction, we introduce dances from historic classical ballet repertory. Currently Wednesday 5:00-7:15 and Sunday 12:30-2:00 (pointe only).
Open Ballet: This classic open ballet class is for intermediate and higher level dancers. Class time is made up of very individualized ballet instruction as well as variations. Currently Tuesday 5-6:30 and Thursday 5-7:30.

Ballet for Boys: This class is for boys about age 8 and older. This is a “tough-ballet-boy” class, focusing on strength as well as popular, classic men’s ballet moves. This is a great class for boys of a wide range of physical abilities, including young athletes. Currently Thursday 3:30-5:00.
Modern: This class is taught in O’Donnell modern technique, a classical modern vocabulary developed by May O’Donnell. It is taught on an intermediate/advanced level according to the current makeup of the class. Currently Friday 5-6:45 and Saturday 11:00-1:00 (or longer just before a performance).
Stretch, Ballet & Boogie: This adult class is for those who want to move, experience the grace of ballet and then let it all hang out, a great hour of fun and dancing. Currently Thursday 5:30-6:30.
Our dance space and dancer safety
We have two dance/studio spaces in Inman Park United Methodist Church at 1015 Edgewood Avenue. You’ll see that we don’t spend money on fancy studio space at Good Moves. Instead, our priority is on focused instruction and dancer safety. Our classes in both dance spaces are held on a Marley dance floor, which is a non-skid professional floor system suitable for dance activities of all variety. Ms. Annette and all of our instructors are very aware and protective of the growing bodies of our dancers. We pay individual attention to each student and pace the learning curve to prevent injury.
As parents, you’ll appreciate and be amused at your dancer’s growing knowledge of how his or her body moves. Our littlest dancers quickly learn that becoming a dancer means knowing the muscles that pull their little feet into first position are their aductor muscles. Our more accomplished dancers who have “gone up on pointe” can describe the exact physical process that results in defying gravity to go up on their toes. In our experience, regardless of a dancer’s goals or potential, a major benefit of quality dance instruction is when your child learns exactly how his or her body gets stronger.
