Annette is the Director, soul and spirit of Good Moves. Miss Annette, as she is known, came to dance in her mid-twenties. She studied dance with May O’Donnell, Martha Graham, Charles Weidman, Alvin Ailey, Agnes DeMille, Robert Joffrey, Carl Radcliffe and Fiona Faerie. She performed nationally and internationally with Company Kaye, Tokunagu Ko, Great American Dance Machine, City Center Dance Theatre, Charles Weidman Repertory Workshop Theatre, Theater of the Stars and Disney. She has provided teaching and choreography workshops and completed residencies for the Fulton County Arts Council of Atlanta, the Atlanta Center for the Visually Impaired, the Limón Dance Institute, the Arts International Educational Association in Italy, Spain and France, the Brooklyn College Youth Outreach Program in New York, Spelman College of Atlanta, and the Georgia Council for the Arts.

Ms. Lewis is a dedicated teacher whose philosophy is that the study of dance should be a joyful and intricate adventure. She does not hold that a teacher’s goal should be to “make dancers.” However, she has had many students who have gone on to successful professional careers in dance. They include: Pamala Jones Malavé, a former soloist with the Limón Dance Company, Albert Evans of New York City Ballet; Jean Hill who has performed with the Dance Theater of Harlem, Basil Ballet and the Düsseldorf Ballet; Cedric Rouse of the Dance Theater of Harlem; and Geoffrey Rhue who has danced with Joffrey II, the Boston Ballet, and Twyla Tharp. Miss Annette creates dances with her students but, more importantly; she fosters an atmosphere in which the students can in her words, “create themselves.”

    Moshiah K. Stringer

I have been working hard and studying dance all around Atlanta for the last two years. Currently, I am a full time apprentice with Brooks and Company Dance. My dream is to one day study at The Boston Conservatory or The Julliard School. For Good Moves, I teach Ballet and Athletic Movement. I spend my free time letting my spirit soar high in the sky at The Circus Arts Institute of Atlanta and hope to fulfill my heart’s dream of dancing the days away!
